I've never been to South America. Never been to mainland USA (just Hawaii). But now, I can add Argentina to my list of countries travelled! I'm off to Ushuaia - also known as the 'end of the world' or the southernmost city in the world. Before we depart for our 3-week expedition through Antarctica, we have 3 days in Ushuaia, Argentina, for further training and coaching. But also, to meet and get to know the other women who will be on the journey with us! I've booked my flight departing Sydney on 26th December 2018 - Just after Christmas, so I can enjoy some family time before the big adventure. Flight plan looks simple: Sydney --> Santiago, Chile 12h 20 min flight, 3h 30 min layover Santiago, Chile --> Buenos Aires, Argentina 2h flight 19h 30 min layover Buenos Aires, Argentina --> Ushuaia, Argentina 3h 42 min flight Not as straight-forward as I thought it would be...! Bit of a long journey, but I can enjoy Christmas at home, then arrive into Ushuaia in time for the welcome dinner on the 28th December, and this was the best flight option (and I had help from a Travel Agent to make things easier). I arrive the afternoon of the 27th, then have the rest of that day and the following to recover from the flights, and explore Ushuaia a bit before things start to kick off! The MV Ushuaia is due to depart around midday on 31st December - so it will be an unusual New Years Eve - and most certainly one to remember (or preferably forget if we have a terrible crossing of the notorious Drake Passage...) - Steph XO Ushuaia, Argentina.
