Came across this challenge to get near, in, on or under water for 100 days. Easiest challenge ever?! Most enjoyable challenge ever, too! The idea stemmed from marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols who wrote a book on the "remarkable effects of water on our health and well-being". This story includes "the vast cognitive, emotional, psychological, social, physical, and spiritual benefits that we can all derive from healthy waters and oceans throughout our lives". I liked this idea. I've always felt completely drawn to the ocean, and felt a deep sense of calm, belonging, comfort in the ocean. But not really known why (or not thought about it enough to research it!). So this book neatly linked it all for me. It is scientifically proven that being around the water is good for us. And that's good enough for me! All the more reason to get out there. During the challenge, I decided to photograph my interaction with water for 100 days. It was made quite easy since my commute to work involved walking along the beach...! Regardless, I enjoy spending time on, around and in the water in my free time as well. Here's my 100 day photo collage! Comments are closed.
