Ever wondered what the mysterious continent of Antarctica was like? After returning from our trip in Janurary 2019, it has been hard to find the correct words to describe Antarctica. I always think a picture tells a thousand words, so hopefully the video footage helps show what we experienced (in a very, very short highlight reel). I've gathered some of my video footage from the trip to compile a short (<3 min) video to give you an idea of the landscape, ruggedness, beauty we experienced. This was only a snippet. Watching this back, I realise how much of Antarctica really appealed to all senses, and a lot of that isn't captured in a video. I've made this without sound, but image the sound of glaciers cracking, snow avalanches into the water, Humpback Whales taking breathes of air on the surface, the loud chatter of Penguin colonies, squeals of excitement (from us), the constant hum of the ship. Then there was the air - imagine the feeling of the cold, fresh air on your face, sometime the wind chill going straight through you. The feeling of snow falling or walking through knee-deep snow. The smell of the penguin colonies and the smell of Humpback Whale breathe through their blow hole (yes some were that close you could smell it!). Antarctica hit all of my senses and a video barely does it justice.
